Private Lessons - Voice, Banjo, and Guitar

I’ve been teaching private voice and guitar lessons since 2008 and have recently begun teaching clawhammer banjo as well. Here’s what I can offer:

• Voice Lessons: Classical and Pop/Rock (Beginner to Advanced+)

• Guitar: Flat Picking and Finger Picking (Beginner, Intermediate)

• Banjo: Clawhammer/Melodic Clawhammer (Beginner, Intermediate)

While instrumental and/or vocal technique is the main focus of these lessons, in my experience it’s only half of the equation when it comes to becoming a well-rounded musician. With that in mind, I also incorporate basic music theory (chord theory, functional harmony, etc) and notation (standard music writing, Roman Numeral analysis, Nashville Numbers) into my lessons to prepare students for anything that comes their way musically.

I prefer to teach lessons in person here in the DC area where possible (especially for vocal lessons), but I’m also set up to provide virtual lessons over Zoom if needed - let me know what you’re looking for and what works best for you!
